Eco Nuts Giveaway

Whenever I talk about Eco Nuts Soap Nuts, the first question I get is always, "What the heck are they???"

First, they're not really a nut but a berry. They grow in the Himalayas and naturally produce a soap called saponin. What's awesome about this saponin is that it's a natural surfactant (basically, it helps get the water under dirt and grease and allows the water to carry the dirt away) but it's also really gentle. Eco Nuts are perfect for people with sensitive skin and allergies, making them ideal for baby clothes and cloth diapers.

Eco Nuts are harvested from wild trees that are grown without any kind of chemicals, fertilizers or pesticides and are certified USDA Organic. Because they are actually a berry, the Soap 'Nuts' are also nut allergy safe.

"Okay, so how do I use them?"

It's actually really easy! Just place 4-5 Eco Nuts in the reusable wash bag. Put the filled bag in with your laundry and wash as normal. Remove the bag at the end of the wash. The nuts can be re-used up to 10 times! Once they start disintegrating, you can compost the used nuts and add 4-5 new Eco Nuts to the bag.

A couple things you should know:

  • Eco Nuts work better when they are agitated more and have some room to work so don't overfill your washing machine.
  • Eco Nuts can be used in standard and HE machines with any temperature water.
  • If your laundry is heavily soiled, pre soak a bag with 4-5 Eco Nuts in hot water for a few minutes. Then, add the 'tea' and the bag in the washing machine along with the laundry. Also, try putting fewer clothes in the machine to provide the most agitation.
