Item of the Week 7/17

It has been hot, hot, hot here in Nebraska! Normally we switch to prefolds or fitteds with wool during the summer because of their breathability. While we love our pocket, hybrid and AIO diapers, they are not as breathable and this usually leads to little man getting heat rashes when the temperature starts climbing into the 90s and 100s. The problem is hubby still isn't completely sold on wool so I set out to find a really breathable, waterproof diaper and I found the Bumkins Vented Cloth Diaper Cover! This diaper is a perfect combination of waterproof and breathable because of the back vent, leg gussets, and waterproof material.

I was kind of skeptical when we first started carrying these diaper covers. I just wasn't too sure about that air vent, but they have become our go to diapering system (when paired with a prefold or fitted) during the summer. We use them during the day and at night, at home and when we're out and about.

For this week only, you can purchase the Bumkins Vented Diaper Cover at 10% off! There are no codes to enter - the discount is automatically applied at checkout. As always, all diapers ship FREE within the US!

Ask and You Shall Receive

Do you know why we carry many of the products we have? Because YOU recommended them.

When we first opened our store, we started with products that we were familiar with. Products that we loved. As our business grew, we began listening more and more to our customers' recommendations. Best.Decision.Ever! We have discovered so many wonderful products thanks to all of you! In fact, we applied for wholesale accounts for two new brands this week that were recommended by our customers!

If there is a brand or product that you love but isn't carried at Country Drawers, let us know! Post on our Facebook page or email us at info@countrydrawers.com. While we can't guarantee that we can add EVERY product or brand, we promise to look into each request. Who knows, your favorite product might just be the next newly added item at Country Drawers!

Let's Make History!

When I first heard of The Great Cloth Diaper Change, I was thrilled that an event of this magnitude was taking place! Even with all the excitement, I just wasn't sure if we'd be able to pull something like this off in our local area. Then I thought, why the heck not!?!

My motto with life is that it never hurts to try. Just like when I decided to start Country Drawers. It was nerve-wracking and sometimes even panic-inducing wondering if anyone would even want to shop at a natural parenting store. But, I gotta say, it's worked out pretty darn good so far. We're receiving more and more local interest and our online customers are absolutely wonderful to work with! Sure, it hasn't been completely smooth sailing, but it's definitely been worth it.

So, it's time to take another plunge with The Great Cloth Diaper Change on April 23rd. We need a minimum of 25 participants (so 25 parents and 25 babies) in order to count towards the world record. While I am still a little concerned that we may not get that many participants, we're still going to have an awesome event!

We'll have SWAG bags for each participant with samples and some lucky participants will even get some full size products (diapers anyone??). And we'll even have some great sales in the store after the event.
If you don't use cloth diapers, but would still like to participate in the event, we will have a few cloth diapers on hand for parents to use during the change.

If you'd like to participate in this history making event, please RSVP over on our event page at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=133950073342953

***Update*** We will now be collaborating with Time For Baby in Kearney! I think this is a great opportunity for both of our stores to help spread the fluff love!  So, come visit us at Time For Baby's store in Kearney on April 23rd!

*CLOSED* Reusable Sandwich Bag Giveaway

The Winner is.....
She said...
YAY. So happy you are giving one of these away. They are super cute! Great job mama!!! I love the one with numbers on it, good for boys and girls and I love how bright the colors are!

Guess who finally got a serger??? Yep, I had a choice between a serger and a laptop. Of course, I chose the serger. The whole wireless computer thing is way overrated anyway. :)

I've been wanting to make some reusable snack bags ever since little man started snacking on cheerios. I even bought a bunch of super cute fabric for them, but I just couldn't figure out a design. I didn't really like the idea of velcro on them. It's bad enough having a very talkative toddler in church who doesn't want to sit still. Give that toddler a bag that is closed with velcro and we'll add even more noise to the mix. I don't really care for zippers either - they break, they get stuck, and they're not the easiest thing for a toddler to open. So, I sat everything to the side for another day.

Once I got my serger, it was like all the inspiration hit me. I remembered those plastic baggies I used as a kid with the little flaps that folded over and I thought that would be a great way to close the reusable bags. Once I fold the flap down, it keeps things secure enough to toss it in the diaper bag, but it's easy enough for little man to carry around and get into. He also loves using them to carry some of his smaller toys in. They work great for sandwiches too.

They are made with either cotton or canvas and lined with unbleached muslin and measure 7" x 7". I'm planning on adding these to the store the first week in October along with some other new items, but you have a chance to win one now!

To enter:
Make sure you're a fan of Country Drawers on FB then comment on this post and tell me which snack bag is your favorite.

Leave your email address if you'd like to be contacted by email if you win.

The giveaway is open until Friday, Sept 24th, at 9am CST. The winner will be posted later that day here on the blog and on the Country Drawers FB page.
